Sumber Daya Alam di Jawa Barat

Sumber daya alam Jawa Barat cukup melimpah. Provinsi ini pada tahun 2006 memiliki lahan sawah ber-irigasi teknis seluas 380.996 ha, sementara sawah ber irigasi setengah teknis 116,443 ha, dan sawah ber irigasi non teknis seluas 428.461 ha. Total saluran irigasi di Jawa Barat sepanjang 9.488.623 km, Sawah-sawah inilah yang pada 2006 menghasilkan 9.418.882 ton padi, terdiri atas 9,103.800 ton padi sawah clan 315.082 ton padi ladang.

Di antara tanaman palawija, pada 2006 ketela pohon menempati urutan pertama. produksi palawija, mencapai 2.044.674 ton dengan produktivitas 179,28 kuintal per ha, Kendati demikian, luas tanam terluas adalah untuk komoditas jagung yang mencapai 148.505 ha, Jawa Barat juga menghasilkan hortikultura terdiri dari 2.938.624 ton sayur mayur, 3.193.744 ton buah buahan, dan 159.871 ton tanaman obat/biofarmaka

Hutan di Jawa Barat juga luas, mencapai 764.387,59 ha atau 20,62% dari total luas provinsi, terdiri dari hutan produksi seluas 362.980.40 ha (9,79%), hutan lindung seluas 228.727,11 ha (6,17%), dan hutan konservasi seluas 172.680 ha (4,63%). Pemerintah juga menaruh perhatian serius pada hutan mangrove yang mencapai 40.129,89 ha, tersebar di 10 kabupaten yang mempunyai pantai. Selain itu semua, ada lagi satu hutan lindung seluas 32.313,59 ha yang dikelola oleh Perum Perhutani Unit III jawa Barat dan Banten.

Dari hutan produksi yang dimilikinya, pada 2006 Jawa Barat memetik hasil 200.675 m³ kayu, meskipun kebutuhan kayu di provinsi ini setiap tahun sekitar 4 juta m³. Sampai 2006, luas hutan rakyat 214.892 ha dengan produksi kayu sekitar 893.851,75 m³. Jawa Barat juga menghasilkan hasil hutan non kayu cukup potensial dikembangkan sebagai aneka usaha kehutanan, antara lain sutera alat jamur, pinus, gerah damar, kayu putih, rotan, bambu, dan sarang burung walet.

Di sektor perikanan, komoditas unggulan adalah ikan mas, nila, bandeng, lele, udang windu, kerang hijau, gurame, patin, rumput laut dan udang vaname. Di tahun 2006, provinsi ini memanen 560,000 ton ikan hasil budidaya perikanan dan payau, atau 63,63% dari total produksi perikanan Jawa Barat.

Di bidang peternakan, sapi perah, domba, ayam buras, dan itik adalah komoditas unggulan di Jawa Barat. Data 2006 menyebutkan kini tersedia 96.796 sapi perah (25% populasi nasional), 4.249.670 domba, 28.652.493 ayam buras 5.596.882 itik (16% populasi nasional). Kini hanya tersedia 245.994 sapi potong di jawa Barat (3% populasi nasional), padahal kebutuhan setiap tahunnya sekitar 300 ribu sapi potong. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan Jawa Barat harus mengimpor 150 ribu ternak sapi dari Australia setiap tahunnya, di samping berharap pasokan ternak hidup dari provinsi lain terutama Jawa Timur, Jawa Tengah, Daerah lstimewa Yogyakarta, Lampung, Bali, Lombok, dan lain lain. Dalam memaksimalisasi sektor peternaknya, Jawa Barat membagi kawasan pengembangan andalan peternakan ke dalam tiga wilayah, yaitu:

1. Jawa Barat Bagian Utara untuk peternakan itik;

2. Jawa Barat Bagian Tengah untuk sapi perah, ayam ras, dan domba; serta

3. Jawa Barat Bagian Selatan untuk domba dan sapi potong,

Provinsi ini memiliki banyak objek unggulan di bidang perkebunan, antara lain teh, cengkeh, kelapa, karet, kakao, tembakau, kopi, tebu, dan akar wangi. Dari semua jenis komoditas itu, cengkeh, kelapa, karet, kakao, tembakau, dan kopi merupakan komoditas unggulan nasional asal Jawa Barat. Dari sisi lahan, produktivitas terbaiknya, yakni luas areal tanam sama dengan Iuas tanaman yang menghasilkan, adalah komoditas tembakau dan tebu. Dari sisi produksi, produktivitas terbanyak adalah kelapa sawit (6,5 ton per ha) dan tebu (5,5 ton per ha).

Jawa Barat juga menghasilkan produksi tambang unggulan. Pada 2006, berhasil dieksplorasi 5.284 ton zeolit, 47.978 ton bentonit, serta pasir besi, semen pozolan, felspar dan barn permata/gemstone. Potensi pertambangan batu mulia umumnya banyak terdapat di daerah Kabupaten Garut, Tasikmalaya, Kuningan, dan Sukabumi.

Perkembangan Kebudayaan di Jawa Barat

Sejak zaman pra kemerdekaan hingga masa kini, bangsa Indonesia dikenal sebagai negara yang kaya akan budayanya. Khususnya, memiliki keragaman budaya yang setiap suku daerahnya memiliki keunikan, yang tidak dimiliki oleh negara manapun di dunia. Seni pertunjukan Indonesia sangat istimewa, dan luar biasa, serta merupakan sosok seni pertunjukan yang sangat lentur dan cair sifatnya. Hal tersebut karena lingkungan masyarakatnya yang selalu berada dalam kondisi yang terus berubah-ubah. Pada kurun waktu tertentu, ada yang mapan dan mengembangkan suatu sosok yang tumbuh sebagai suatu „tradisi, sebagai upaya dan penerimaan masyarakat kepada suatu hasil budaya yang dialihteruskan selama ber-generasi. Begitu pula daerah Jawa Barat, berbagai karya seni tumbuh dan berkembang, difungsikan dari generasi ke generasi yang kemudian mempunyai ciri-ciri yang mapan, masing-masing daerah mempunyai ciri khas yang mencerminkan asal daerahnya, bahkan membentuk genre-genre, kemudian menjadi tradisi masyarakat setempat. Beberapa daerah di Jawa Barat masih menyelenggarakan seni pertunjukan yang ada kaitannya dengan upacara ritual, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan padi, yang dilaksanakan menurut kebiasaan secara tetap, menurut waktu tertentu, serta untuk keperluan tertentu. Antara lain, Tarawangsa di Sumedang, Ngarot di Indramayu, dan Seren Taun di Sukabumi. Pertunjukan tersebut merupakan ritual untuk persembahan demi kesuburan pertanian. Penyajian tarian pada upacara padi, diyakini memiliki kekuatan magi–simpatetis dan berpengaruh terhadap upacara persembahan itu.

Sumber Daya Manusia di Jawa Barat

Dengan jumlah penduduk sekitar 37 juta manusia pada tahun 2003, 16 persen dari total jumlah penduduk Indonesia. Pertumbuhan urbanisasi di Provinsi tumbuh sangat cepat, khususnya disekitar JABOTABEK (sekitar Jakarta). Jawa Barat memiliki tenaga pekerja berpendididkan berjumlah 15,7 juta orang pada tahun 2001 atau 18 persen dari total nasional tenaga pekerja berpendidikan. Sebagian besar bekerja pada bidang pertanian, kehutanan dan perikanan (31%), pada industri manufaktur (17%), perdagangan, hotel dan restoran (22,5%) dan sektor pelayanan (29%).

Perkembangan Agama Hindu di Jawa Barat
Perkembangan agama Hindu di Jawa Barat diperkirakan terjadi sekitar abad ke lima masehi, ditandai dengan kerajaan Hindu Tarumanegara dengan rajanya Purnawarman. Selain itu ditandai juga dengan penemuan tujuh buah prasasti batu atau Saila Prasasti, diantaranya: Prasasti Ciaruteun, Prasasti Kebon Kopi, Prasasti Jambu, Prasasti Muara Cianten, Prasasti Pasirawi, Prasasti Tugu, srta Prasati Lebak yang ditulis dengan huruf Pallawa dan berbahasa Sansekerta, berbentuk syair yang memberikan keterangan tentang kerajaan Tarumanegara.

Prasasti Ciaruteun menyebutkan bahwa “Purnawarman adalah raja yang gagah berani bagaikan Dewa Wisnu”. Dalam Prasasti Tugu menyebutkan bahwa “Raja Purnawarman dalam pemerintahannya yang ke 22 menggali sungai Gomati yang panjangnya 12 km dalam waktu 21 hari dan memberikan hadiah 1000 ekor lembu kepada para Brahmana”.

Perkembangan Agama Budha Di Jawa Barat

Para ahli sejarah masih meneliti kapan sebenarnya agama Buddha masuk ke Indonesia. Namun banyak orang sependapat bahwa kedatangan Aji Saka merupakan tanggal kedatangan agama Buddha di Indonesia. Apabila kita meneliti arti kata "Aji Saka" ini, kita akan menemukan: "Aji" dalam bahasa Kawi berarti "ilmu kitab suci" sedang "Saka" berasal dari kata "Sakya". Sehingga "Aji Saka" dapat diartikan sebagai "Pakar dalam Kitab Suci Sakya" atau Pakar Buddha Dharma. Dari sini dapat diketahui bahwa Aji Saka sebenarnya bukanlah sebuah nama, tetapi sebuah gelar. Gelar ini diberikan rakyat kepada rajanya yang sebenarnya bernama Tritustha.

Kata "Dewata" artinya dewa dan "Cengkar" artinya jahat, jadi "Dewata Cengkar" tidak lain berarti dewa jahat (awidya). Dengan demikian legenda yang telah merakyat di Jawa Tengah tentang perang dahsyat antara Aji Saka melawan Raja Dewata Cengkar, kiranya dapat diartikan sebagai perang antara Buddha Dharma melawan Kejahatan/Kebodohan (Awidya). Aji Saka bukan hanya pakar dalam Buddha Dharma, tetapi juga seorang pakar astronomi dan sastra. Dalam legenda Jawa dikatakan bahwa untuk menandai kekhilafan beliau dalam memberi perintah kepada dua orang panglimanya yang setia yang menyebabkan mereka berperang tanding sendiri dan keduanya gugur karena sama "jayanya", beliau membuat Aksara Jawa.

Kalau Ha Na Ca Ra Ka dipakai untuk mengenang kedua panglimanya yang setia Dora dan Sembada--, maka untuk mengingat kedatangannya, sebuah candrasangkala telah dibuat oleh Aji Saka. Penanggalan tahun Saka (tahun Jawa) ini dimulai pada tanggal beliau mendarat di pulau Jawa. "Nir Wuk Tanpa Jalu" adalah tanggal 0001, karena: Nir = kosong = 0; Wuk = tidak jadi = 0; Tanpa = 0; dan Jalu = 1. Permulaan waktu penanggalan tahun Saka ini sama dengan tanggal 14 Maret tahun 78 Masehi. Kalau legenda Aji Saka ini kelak ternyata benar, maka dapatlah dikatakan agama Buddha telah masuk ke Indonesia (Jawadwipa) pada abad I Masehi, jadi jauh sebelum Candi Borobudur didirikan oleh raja-raja Wangsa Sailendra pada abad VII. Secara singkat dapat disusun kurang lebih perkembangan agama Buddha di Indonesia sebagai berikut:

Abad I (14 Maret 78), kedatangan Aji Saka Tritustha menandai masuknya agama Buddha di Indonesia (Jawadwipa).

Abad II, III, dan IV di Indonesia (Jawa) agama Buddha sudah berkembang. Ini terbukti dari catatan-catatan Bhiksu Fa-hien yang datang ke Jawa pada abad V. Beliau menyatakan bahwa sewaktu beliau datang di Jawa agama Buddha sudah ada bersama-sama agama Hindu.

Abad IV dan V, bukti perkembangan agama Buddha dapat dilihat dari prasasti-prasasti kerajaan Purnawarman di Jawa Barat dan Mulawarman di Kalimantan.

Abad VII dan VIII adalah jaman keemasan perkembangan agama Buddha di Jawa, di bawah raja-raja Kerajaan Mataram Purba dan Sailendra. Pada abad VII ini Candi Borobudur dibangun, pembangunannya dikatakan memakan waktu kira-kira delapan puluh tahun.

Abad VIII dan IX, berdiri Kerajaan Sriwijaya di Sumatera, di mana Bhiksu I-tsing pernah datang belajar agama Buddha dan bahasa Sanskerta.

Abad XI, Atisa Dipankara seorang bhiksu yang mengajarkan Vajrayana di Tibet, sewaktu mudanya juga belajar pada Bhiksu Dharmakirti di Swarnadwipa (Sumatera).

Perkembangan Agama Islam di Jawa Barat
Ilmu sejarah terus berkembang berdasarkan penemuan-penemuan fakta baru yang memberikan penjelasan baru. Begitu pula dengan sejarah perkembangan agama Islam di Jawa Barat. Islam di Jawa Barat berkembang sejak Islam masuk ke Nusantara pada abad ke-7

Para ahli sejarah tidak memiliki bukti yang akurat mengenai awal penyebaran agama Islam di Jawa Barat. Namun informasi perluasan atau perkembangan Islam di Jawa Barat lebih banyak dikisahkan melalui Sejarah Cirebon dan Sunda Kalapa.

Cirebon dan Banten merupakan bagian dari wilayah kekuasaan kerajaan Pajajaran. Kerajaan Pajajaran masih menganut ajaran Hindu. Kehadiran Sunan Gunung Jati di Cirebon perlahan mengubah agama dan kebudayaan masyarakat yang menganut ajaran Hindu.

Perkembangan Agama Kristen Di Jawa Barat

Pengaruh Barat dan agama Kristen Protestan (selanjutnya hanya akan disebut Kristen) masuk ke Nusantara, khususnya Pulau Jawa melalui kedatangan dan kehadiran orang-orang Belanda. Walaupun bangsa Portugis datang lebih dahulu dari bangsa Belanda, mereka tidak sempat punya tempat berpijak di Jawa Barat. Ketika pada 1527 armada Portugis datang ke Sunda Kelapa untuk membantu Kerajaan Sunda, armada itu tidak berhasil mendarat di tempat tersebut. Pada waktu itu Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa sudah diduduki oleh tentara Mataram dan armada Portugis dapat dipukul mundur. Selama berada di Nusantara perhatian bangsa Portugis hanya tertuju ke wilayah Maluku dan sekitarnya yang merupakan daerah penghasil rempah-rempah. Daerah-daerah lain, termasuk Jawa Barat dipandang tidak penting bagi usaha perdagangannya. Orang-orang Belanda datang ke Asia dengan alasan-alasan ekonomi dan politik seperti Portugis, namun masalah penyebaran agama tidak mereka anggap terlalu penting. Belanda datang hanya untuk monopoli perdagangan.

Injil mulai dikabarkan kepada penduduk pribumi di Jawa Barat pada paruh kedua abad ke-19 oleh orang-orang Belanda secara perseorangan dan oleh lembaga pekabaran Injil (selanjutnya hanya akan disebut zending) yaitu Nederlandsche Zendingsvereeniging (NZV). Setelah terbentuk jemaat pribumi barulah upaya pekabaran Injil dilakukan oleh pribumi kepada teman-teman sebangsanya. Jawa Barat yang dimaksud dalam penelitian ini adalah Jawa Barat dalam pengertian geo budaya, yaitu wilayah Jawa bagian barat di mana kebudayaan Sunda lahir, tumbuh, dan berkembang. Jemaat-jemaat yang telah terbentuk mengalami tekanan dari masyarakat non-Kristen sehingga timbul gagasan untuk membentuk desa-desa Kristen yang terlepas dari tata adat masyarakat dan tata adat keagamaan yang non Kristen. Desa-desa yang dibentuk dengan latar belakang demikian adalah desa Pangharepan (di Cikembar, Sukabumi): yang didirikan oleh S. van Eendenburg tahun 1886, desa Cideres (Majalengka) yang didirikan oleh J. Verhoeven tahun 1900, desa Palalangon (di Ciranjang, Purwakarta) yang didirikan oleh B.M. Alkema pada 1902, dan desa Tamiyang (di daerah Cirebon) yang didirikan oleh A. Vermeer pada 1900 (Atje-Soejana, 1975: 35).

Topik tentang Penyebaran Kristen di Jawa Barat hingga terbentuknya Gereja Kristen Pasundan ini dipilih penulis karena menarik untuk diteliti. Kebudayaan masyarakat Sunda di Jawa Barat memiliki keunikan. Suatu budaya asing tidak dapat begitu saja diterima oleh masyarakat dengan pola pikir tradisional tanpa adanya pendekatan konsep teologi lokal yang digunakan para zendeling.

Dalam hal kepercayaan, masyarakat Sunda memiliki kekuatan yang sulit untuk ditembus oleh kepercayaan baru khususnya dari Eropa. Hal ini yang diusahakan zending untuk dilakukan, menyebarkan ajaran Kristen kepada masyarakat Jawa Barat yang sudah memiliki kepercayaan Islam. Penelitian mengenai Kristenisasi di Jawa Barat masih sangat kurang karena keterbatasan sumber penulisan dan peminat, maka penulis mencoba untuk menulis sebuah proses penyebaran Kristen di Jawa Barat hingga terbentuk sebuah jemaat Gereja Kristen Pasundan.

Penelitian ini mengambil periode 1865 hingga 1942. Pekabaran Injil oleh pihak asing di Jawa Barat dimulai sejak kedatangan lembaga zending yaitu NZV dan pekabaran Injil yang dilakukan Anthing sejak 1865.

Penelitian ini berakhir tahun 1942 ketika tentara Jepang masuk Jawa Barat karena hubungan Gereja Kristen Pasundan dengan NZV terputus sehingga Gereja Kristen Pasundan menjadi sebuah jemaat yang terlepas dari pengaruh kepemimpinan dan bantuan finansial dari NZV secara total.

Perkembangan Agama Kong Hu Cu di Jawa Barat
Sejarah perjalanan dan perkembangan agama Khonghucu (Kong jiao) sangatlah panjang. Agama Khonghucu adalah agama yang ada dengan mengambil nama Sang Nabi Khongcu (Kongzi/Kong Fuzi) yang lahir pada tanggal 27 bulan 8 tahun 551 SM di negeri Lu (kini jasirah Shandong(2952 – 2836 SM), Shen-nong (2838 – 2698 SM), Huang-di (2698 – 2596 SM), Yao (2357 – 2255 SM), Shun (2255 – 2205 SM), Da-yu (2205 – 2197 SM), Shang-tang (1766 – 1122 SM),Wen, Wu Zhou-gong (1122 – 255 SM), sampai Nabi Agung Kongzi (551 – 479 SM) dan Mengzi (371 – 289 SM). Para nabi inilah peletak Ru jiao. Sedangkan Nabi Kongzi adalah penerus, pembaharu dan penyempurna. Maka Ru jiao juga disebut Kong jiao. ). Awalnya agama ini bernama Ru jiao (儒 教). Huruf Ru (儒) berasal dari kata (亻-人) ‘ren’ (orang) dan (需) ‘xu’ (perlu) sehingga berarti ‘yang diperlukan orang’, sedangkan ‘Ru’ sendiri bermakna (柔) ‘Rou’ lembut budi-pekerti, penuh susila, (优) ‘Yu’ – Yang utama, mengutama perbuatan baik, lebih baik,..和 He – Harmonis, Selaras,.. 濡 Ru – Menyiram dengan kebajikan, bersuci diri,.. ‘Jiao 教 berasal dari kata ‘xiao’孝 (berbakti) dan 文 ‘wen’ (sastra, ajaran). Jadi ‘jiao’ berarti ajaran/sastra untuk berbakti; =agama. Maka Ru jiao adalah ajaran/agama untuk berbakti bagi kaum lembut budi pekerti yang mengutamakan perbuatan baik, selaras dan berkebajikan. Ru jiao ada jauh sebelum Sang Nabi Kongzi lahir. Dimulailah dengan sejarah Nabi-Nabi suci Fuxi. Tanggal 25-27 Desember 1970 diadakan Musyawarah Kerja (Muker) Makin-Makin se-Jawa Barat dan DKI Jaya untuk meningkatkan perkembangan Agama Khonghucu.
